What’s in a name? It could possibly be the success of one’s online dating pursuit. A study conducted by Humboldt University in Berlin concluded that online daters in the UK are more apt to look at dating profiles on the basis of how appealing that person’s name is. Whereas, a name commonly associated with adversity may cause a person to be skipped-over before ever obtaining a single profile view.
The research shows that men dating in UK who are named Kevin, Marvin, Dennis and Justin may have a difficult time of it. Correspondingly, females with the names Mandy, Celina, Chantal and Jacqueline may also run into a bit of trouble when it comes to finding a date online. Good news, however, for ladies named Charlotte, Hannah, Emma and Marie as these names were found to be the most successful among the females. Successful male names include: Jacob, Max, Alexander, Peter and Mark.
These conclusions were derived from a study involving 47,000 online daters, in which messages, with names only and excluding a picture of a person were sent. The profiles with unpopular first names drew in far fewer potential dates than those with a likeable name. For example, the profile established under the name Alexander received a 102% higher message response rate than that of Kevin’s profile.
The leader of the survey determined that a UK date would rather stay single than be in a relationship with someone whose name is undesirable to them. Based on one’s preferences and past experiences, names can certainly take on emotional representation, be it positive or negative. However, if we can refrain from making snap judgements about other people, true love could be in the offing. Visit UKDate.com and get started now on your journey to love.
